What I do...

The Crochety Rabbit - dog from a pattern by Heidi BearsI make crocheted hats and scarves, blankets, shawls and other accessories. Everything is carefully crocheted by hand using new yarn. All of the filling used in cushions is hypo-allergenic hollow fibre. I can also crochet to commission, so if you have something you want making why not contact me, and I'll do my best to help.

I have been crocheting since the age of thirteen, having been taught by my mother who was in turn taught by someone she worked with, but I think it is in my genes anyhow, as my grandmother crocheted the most beautiful doilies and table covers (some of which I have inherited.)  The first item I made was a long red and white striped scarf, which led to my first commission - a similar one in red, white and black for a friend who was a supporter of Man. United FC. I have been crocheting ever since!

I like making bags, hats, scarves and brooches, like the roses below. I was pleased to be making red poppies (in 2014) for a WW1 commemorative exhibition, and have thoroughly enjoyed trying out the animals made from the Heidi Bears patterns which use the African Flower polygons.

Most of all I love experimenting and seeing where it takes me...  sitting in my comfy armchair listening to the radio or an audio book, with a ball of yarn, a crochet hook and I'm a very happy bunny!
